Back on topic:

I have apparently spoiled Monty, my roommate's 14 year old long haired grey cat.

I'll admit, when I'm in the kitchen making a sammich and he comes up to investigate, I'll give him a shred of lunch meat. He's all over pretty much any kind of turkey or roast beef. Not so much with the pastrami, and he's hot and cold with swiss cheese.

I made mac and cheese tonight. He could obviously smell it.

What he apparently COULDN'T smell was the hot sauce I'd added to give it some zip.

So he comes up to my chair begging. I put a piece on the floor, expecting him to smell the hot sauce and back away.

Nope.

3-4 solid licks. He was JUST about to bite the noodle.

And then the spice kicked in.

He spent a couple of minutes sitting there looking at the noodle all confuzzled and licking his chops.

When I moved the noodle closer, to see if he REALLY wanted it, he backed away.  laughingdp

Maybe that'll learn 'em.

You think that is fluffy, you should see it when he fluffs it up when he attacks the dog!

Is that a paw from a domestic cat, or is it a feline borrowed from the zoo?  Shocked

My wife brought home 2 kittens. We're only keeping one. I don't know anything about cats. What do you feed a really young, around 1 month old, kitten? Please, nothing too fancy. I recently moved to Chile so pet supplies are limited.

From the net-

A one month old kitten (4 weeks) should still be nursing its mother or else being bottle fed.  It's very important to feed a kitten a proper milk supplement.  KMR Brand of formula is excellent.  It can be purchased from a local veterinarian, farm supply store, and possibly a pet store.  It will need to be diluted as directed on the can.  The kitten will need this supplement until it is a full 6-7 weeks old, though I prefer to feed it for a week to two longer than that in addition to regular kitten foods.  It will also need to be fed quite often.  It will need to start eating soft foods at 5-6 weeks and can be started on dry at 6-7 weeks, if you choose.  I highly recommend the truly premium foods such as Wellness and Nature's Variety.  Please read my past AllExperts answers regarding food brands, diet, and nutrition.  Please try to find the brand of kitten milk replacer that I mentioned...regular cow's milk can cause major gastrointestinal problems and does not contain sufficient nutrients for a kitten.  When the kitten reaches 6 weeks it will also need an initial vet exam to check for parasites, etc.

Good info here as well--> http://www.kittencare.com/feeding_kittens.html
