Here's the first shot of the new Enterprise and what JJ abrams had invisioned:

Appearantly, Abrams' aim was to take the designs of the original TV series and the movies and fuse them together in a design that could "stand up" to today's visual effects standards. The result is a ship with a more textured surface, smoother curves, a more compact engineering section, and nacelles that seem like more hi-tech versions of the classic shows'.

Honestly though, this makes me a little sad - it looks aweful.  [bang]

Ehh

It's not all that bad.

The warp cell is a little funky.

honestly i think this version looks very good it has teh same bottom disc as teh original and you see how he combined the oringial and made it a bit updated.

that is a good mix, its not all new or all old, but a good go between.  i personall like it for what the effort that it was trying to convey.

I just hope that it falls properly into the genre and history of Trek. As successors are concerned, Enterprise (as far as the most recent television show) was a disaster as far as linear history is concerned. I hope that they get it right this time.

Did anyone else see the new Trailer that was put out with Quantum of Solace? The movie actually looks like it might be pretty good!

If you drive the nicest car in the neighborhood, work in a cash business, and don't pay taxes, you're either a preacher or a drug dealer...

Monster Dave

oh...that's cool!

I love movies with a feeling of mechanics to them and lots of raw steel and building (and destruction) going on. Now I'm getting excited!

remember, there was always a dead red shirt on the away teams. didnt take long as a kid to know who was gonna get snuffed [evil]

I like the new Enterprise. It looks enough like the original to be passable and isn't so completely off as to be unbelievable. That's why I never liked Star Trek:Enterprise. The ship design looked too much like the "newer" ships they brought out in the battle scenes of Deep Space 9.

OK, so this new trailer has me totally stoked about the new movie:

Star Trek Trailer 3 HD 720p

I like how they worked in the orbital skydive from Generations that didn't make the final movie cut that was supposed to be Kirks big entrance:

Sorry for the crappy video quality, it's all that I could find, but you get the idea.  [thumbsup]
