Well alright! Thank you for the greeting and the seconds on CAM. I have been known to "pop" up in the NE area. LOL! I really enjoy rolling through Georgetown and Downtown during the night time. A lot of eye candy...

Feel free to hit me up when you are planning to ride. I have been giving the Foggy a break while I am breaking in the 998 but she is ready for action! Although I am coming around to the new clutch phase. Yikes! $$$$...

Hydra, thanks alot, much appreciated!

Speeddog,  why would the bike have an ECU for a full system put in after the bike was purchased?  I thought the bike came from the factory with a full system and would have an ECU to run that.  Is that not so?  I am even more confused than at first!

I know it's not much use to you guys in the states but over here in the UK this coming saturday at DucatiManchester we're having an open day with Help for Heroes as the charity and Carl is guest of honour.

We try to have a couple of open days a year at the store and Carl always finds time to call in and talk with customers and sign stuff, at the moment Carls road bike is a Diavel which he certainly seems to enjoy riding.

The bike was shipped to the US with a standard exhaust and came with a full exhaust, ECU, and filter as an included kit. Try taking it out and see if there is another sticker on the other side.

Hi Everyone, got another question for you all with Foggys: 

I had a pretty substantial scrape on my front fender and I just had it repaired/repainted.  The body shop I took it to effed around with it for so long (over one month), that I finally had to go pick it up without it being finished.  It is completely repaired and it is completely painted with one clear coat layer over it.  I have the Ducati Corse sticker that goes on the front, but they never got around to putting it on.  My question is, is that sticker on the fender simply stuck on or is it covered with clear coat?  I would like the job to replicate the original paint job as closely as possible.  Can you guys look at yours and see if the sticker is covered with clear coat?

Hey Folks,

Check eBay for a size 54 Foggy jacket to match our bikes! It is starting at $500 with free shipping. Pretty good deal. Plus, this is an awesome way to complete your collection. They are numbered like our bikes (300) and this one is #23! A real piece of history. It I did not have one I would get it for sure!!!

Hi all, not sure if anyone looks at this thread anymore but I just bought my Foggy so needed to post. Replaces a 1098 TriColore and will sit in garage next to a 09 696 and a couple of BMW GS's.

Well, the Tri 1098 had the full 70mm Termi's with ECU ect.. lots of extra's and looked GREAT! BUT....for me was not fun to ride on the street, 90mph wheelies were at will and for a 55yo 225lb guy the ride position was not to my taste. The Foggy is great, not the power or sound but still very nice. Mine has speedymoto tripples with Rizoma bars so the ride position is very nice. Still need to adjust the Rizoma rearsets and get some miles on it but I love the looks. I have a BMW GS1200 for long trips and wanted the Monster for nice weather rides, looked at the Monster S4RS Tri but it just wasn't the same as the 1098Tri so when this Foggy came up I jumped on it and to tell you the truth it is better in person that any pictures. Will try to post some PIC's soon.

To Zipper23: I've seen your problem before and to better explain it I contacted the Foggy guru that discovered, isolated, and solved that problem years ago. His post (info he was giving to another guy with the same problem) will follow but the short answer is...you have the wrong ECU in the bike. Contact a Dealer and get them to correct it. And you can thank Tom.

"Not sure how much help I can be; my bike's been all sorted out for some time, and my memory is suspect...

But I'll try:

If you had the single fan issue, then yes, you probably have the 2001 DP ECU installed. I don't remember exactly what the other symptoms were, but the kickstand safety also didn't work properly with that ECU--so not sure what your mechanic bypassed .

Now, I'm not sure which of my posts you have read but, I am the one who figured out that Ducati messed up on our bikes by putting 2001 ECUs in the DP kit that shipped with our 2002 bikes. So, I got them to make new DP ECUs that were configured to the 2002 harness and gauges, etc. For a while, they would give Foggy owners an updated ECU--but only if you asked (read, complained). There might be some small chance that they will still, but they probably don't have any left.

As to selling your "spare" ECU, there is a very good chance it is "married" to your bike, and that it will not work on another S4. So, if you do sell it, you should be very upfront about it probably NOT working in the new bike...

As to confirming if you do have the DP Full Exhaust ECU, the best (perhaps only) way to tell is simply take the bike up to the rev limit a couple times. I don't remember exactly, but I think the stock ECU is about 9500, the half-exhaust ECU about 10000, and the full exhaust about 10500, and SPS cams ECU 11200 (I know this one for sure ). I could be off a couple hundreds, but I know it is in my posts somewhere. And the old DP catalog had dyno graphs detailing the various redline cutouts.

But, even still, you will still have the 2001 ECU, in a 2002 bike. We knew about the fan and kickstand issue, but Ducati would never admit to any other possible differences. That said, the bikes do seem to run ok, with the "wrong" ECU.

btw, the part numbers may, or may not, be on either ECUs, and may not mean anything. Ducati Performance used a batch of old 996 ECUs, and re-programed them, and then simply stuck new stickers over the old ones for pretty much all their performance ECUs--and the stickers sometimes didn't stick too well. The DP ECU for the 54mm exhaust on the 996R I recently sold, had an underling sticker that matched my S4 DP ECU..."

OK, my new Foggy limits at 9,500 rpm.....what do I do?
