Do you use a crate or pen or somewhere to contain the dogs? Kinda like a naughty corner with nothing but water in there! We use one and he knows he has done wrong when he gets put in there!

nope .  . they both automatically go to A corner of the dining room . . .

ok entering is muy importante & probably cheaper than paying for a persons medical bill if they get bit. Its the price you pay to be a responsible pet owner Wink ...also your dog needs to think of your wife as more of an alpha..have her start teaching commands making him sit and wait for his food until she gives him the signal that its ok. also putting him on a leash even while in the house so she has more control might help as well.

I have no patience . . . everyone says . . . she has no patience with Max  !!! He can be a little rough when playing . . .35lbs of muscle and she bruises easily

Right now, he's on my left and Enzo is on my right, both deeply asleep while I watch tv, surf the web for parts to resell and keep and check my ebilvook . . .I called them both about 45 mins ago and have not moved . . .

A gentle leader works well for sighthounds with jackrabbits running around...hard to find higher drive than that.

Sighthound = pure prey drive
Pitbull = fight drive (positive or negative it doesn't matter)

The difference is tremendous and I should have been more clear. The size of the dog doesn't matter but a yorkie is easier to control on a flat collar than 70 pound Belgian Malinois. The thing I don't like about gentle leaders (having used them) and working dogs (certian pits, mals, jag terriers, certain working line GSD etc) is that they don't curb reactivity in the dog. In other words the consequences of these dogs going into prey drive (chasing something), and then into fight drive (fighting with the collar) doesn't effectively change the behavior. Whereas a pinch collar used properly sends a much clearer message especially when reinforced by reward for doing the right thing. A pinch collar used by someone who doesn't pop the leash and just lets the dog pull has the opposite effect and raises the dogs fight drive. For me I train with a balance of compulsion and positive reinforcement and get pretty good results. Your results may vary.

There is a group of volunteers that jog Seattle Animal Shelter dogs through Myrtle Edwards park on Sat mornings. Almost all the dogs are Pitts or Pit mixes. Not a prong collar in sight. They all use the wonder walker harness.  These are dogs with minimal training, and who knows what kind of past life.

Very safe actually   Shocked

A trained dog has no need for a prong collar and there is no need (imho) to use one for training.

My dogs!

I love this picture of your two pups.

Almost as much as I love this dog that I think is cuter than any dog ever made on the planet.  Ever.  Yes, cuter than my two ankle biters.

Okay, just one more from back in the day.
