My dog knows the "leave it" command very well. Right now she's mostly confused. The kitten we got ain't skeered, so it runs straight to the dog. Lexi is used to having squirrels and cats run away from her. This is completely new territory for all of us.

As long as she's not actively trying to eat the kitten, I think you'll be okay.

She'll soon realize that she's been bumped down a notch on the social ladder of the house. (As have you and the wife.)

Enjoy your new overlords while they're still small and cute.

How do you get dogs used to having kittens around?

Get mean cats. I have a maine Coon that treats my 2 Bulldogges like I treated my little brother.

I had a cat that was de clawed and she was the boss of my Belgian Shepard / Great Dane ... They figure it out.

My three puppies leave the chickens alone. They can all be in the yard or chicken coop at the same time or unsupervised. 

We have this as our family policy,  in our house all our animals have to get along. We start that as soon as they enter our house. It seems to work.

Not that there's anything wrong with the chickens in the house.  It was pretty funny!
