part of it might be multiple myeloma..they've ruled out any tick-borne diseases..but they found a spot on his brain that is causing the majority of his problems & based on the suddenness of it, it was most likely a stroke

Great news indeed!  Big sigh of relief for the direction Mufasa is going.

Will continue sending the healing juju vibes his way!

ok, so..fasa does have multiple myeloma, but they gave him a few doses of chemo, the last of which will be given today & that should be fairly manageable atleast for a while...

they are also 90% certain he had a stroke where the spine meets the neck

he also has a lot of joint issues & muscle atrophy in his hind legs that isn't helping

but the last 2 days the fog seems to be lifting & he is showing lots of signs of improvement... he can walk with the help of this sling that hooks around his torso near his hind legs. & he's eating & drinking with no problem. & he goes potty outside :) :) :)

AND the BIG news is, i just got off the phone with his vet & if his kidney function test goes well today & his blood test goes well tomorrow... fasa will get to come home TOMORROW!!!!!

thank you all soooooooooooooo much for sending the positive energy his way. i truly believe it has helped :) :) :)

Excellent news!  he may need a fresh warm rotisserie chicken hand-fed to him as the reward for getting himself out of there   ;)

Elyse:  Listen to this man's wise words!
Rotisserie chicken, as Rat told me last spring, is seriously like crack for the old, afflicted, recovering pups.
Even though Mufasa's appetite sounds like it's coming back:  GET SOME!

With the left overs, I would warm portions in low sodium chicken broth and cooked rice.  Go ahead and add it to the regular kibble too if you want.

While it did not save a cancer and pneumonia stricken senior foster I had, she willingly filled her belly one last time with the comfort that this concoction brought when nothing else appealed to her.

I once made a bucket of oxtail stew for my dear departed Father in Law...

he was terminal and had shutdown on food as he was in final stage...hadn't eaten in 2 days

we were told he would pass that night, so it was last call time

to me he looked like he still had a few hours to spare

so I asked him if he could handle a bucket of oxtails before he left us

he couldn't speak anymore but his eyes lit up, nodded his head and smiled as he squeezed my forearm

doctors and hospice nurse were amazed he ate anything let alone put away at least two lbs. of them

36 hours later he was gone....we shared a love of oxtails...it was a proper last meal

I was proud to have cooked them for him

As I noted already over on that other social media place, that's one adorable pup!  Cute enough it bears repeating.
