Yesterday's news:

The consequences too many canines suffer because of some people...

Indeed they do....I think we are the species' biggest problem

but on the bright side the dog did get to bite the face of a news ghoul

how many humans have wanted to do the same thing as the dog when attacked by

news crews asking them how they "feel" knowing that their child/spouse etc

was tortured for hours before being strangled/stabbed/shot etc etc

Oh no...I pray young Master Otto didn't hose up his cruciate ligament

Najee is going in for stem cell treatment for his cruciate this month :-\

We do too!  Though the vet said they would wait to fix it during his neuter surgery, so he would only have to go under once.

Tha acupuncture seems to be helping.  His ROM and activity level is increased.

Good luck with Najee's treatment.  Which one of your is he?

You are 11ty billion percent correct.  And while I think Ann Curry is likely a very nice person, she's my least favorite news "ghoul" (love that) out there who does exactly all of the above.

Better not digress any further.

And I love the pics of the pups laying together!

When is big guy's surgery?  Expected mobility post-recovery?

He will be going in in two or so weeks....I am taking Ella the Sonic Hedgehog down to A-ville this weekend

and leaving her there with step child for a month

so the Lumbering Lummox won't be compelled to blow the recuperation playing with her

he will be on restricted activity for 2 or 3 weeks....this is the new treatment they are doing that is semi-"non-surgical" on cruciate ligaments that aren't completely torn through

using stem cells and a few other things

the vet is only charging me for the boarding time and the actual cost of the medicine as Najee's results will be compiled into the research group so his fees will be pro bono

Fascinating article.  Will have to file that one for future reference in case bouncy boxer w/two reconstructed knees and 2 wrists with arthritis ever comes to the point of needing more help.

Will be watching for your updates after the green-eyed lovely lummox gets treated!   [thumbsup]

I will post updates once we get into the process....I am silently freaking out....

I never thought I would or could ever love another dog as much as my first one....

until this guy came along I did not think it was in my capacity

but this big fool showed me how wrong I was about myself

he has found a place in me we both love...maybe because both of us were such long-shots

sometimes we will be lounging on the couch head to head

and he will take his paw and try to scratch my head with it.

I know I am going to be totally make the beast with two backsed when his time comes due someday in the hopefully distant future

Great pup, RAT.

We looked at Corso, but they are about twice as large as I wanted.

Otto's knee checked out okay.   [thumbsup]

He's continuing to improve with the acupuncture treatments.  Has his last on Tuesday.

Holy cow, they're going through food like mad.  Definitely going to have to buy the big bag next time.

Great news!

RAT900

Well Najee blew out his knee this morning charging down the back steps into the yard.... :-\

really limping now...I am hoping the joint calms down a bit over the next few days for the trip back north

and he can start walking again without looking like the tragic dog in the movie Flatliners

got him on his happy pills and feeding him rotisserie turkey breast to keep him dozing/low activity

The Vet up in NY called my wife today as timing would have it .....

to tell her he got the stem cell team scheduled together to do Najee's knee for Feb 28th

Oh no.... dear Najee.    [thumbsdown]  [thumbsdown]

Would he tolerate acupuncture to help get the swelling down and decrease the pain until the transplant?  (I guess the primary question would be whether you wanted to do that for him or not.)

Regardless, I hope he stays as chill as possible until then.  uh.... these pups...

I'm going to give him a day to sort out...I have him on his anti-infammatory pain pills

if he doesn't improve any I'll get my daughter to steer me to a good interim vet down here in NC

I have no problem doing anything to make him more at ease...he is the most compliant

trusting dog...he just lies there and awaits love and comfort,

he knows in our care, that his cruel days are behind him
