If you have a garage, parking inside might sove this problem.

Man, does that ever suck!  Ducatizzzz is correct about the possibility of pump and injector damage.   Even if the trucks seem to run well, have them check fuel pump pressure and injector spray pattern before settling with insurance.  Also check for catalytic converter efficiency.  Cats do not like oil.  Change the fuel filter too, it holds quite a large quantity of fuel

if you got oil into the cat, then you probably have a few thousand $ other damage as well.  that's a good place to start actually, the exhaust.  if you have no significant oil in the tail pipe, work your way up.

most likely, GF's truck died because injectors got plugged.  may be cleanable, might need replacment.

Yeah, call homeland security and the NRA to turn your home into a fortress ... live in fear !

if you know it's him, there are plenty of ways to deal with it without calling up a civil rights organization like the NRA

locking gas caps are mandatory though.  surprised you don't have one, but then again, i don't on my truck (1986 model)

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I have an 2006 Xterra (offroad which is far from base model) and it does not have a locking gas cap or fuel door (and it does not lock when the car is locked).

Man, that is some seriously planned shit. Someone who has thought of all that (im surpise you dont have a locking gas cap i thought thye came standard!) probably wants to do something again. Id be on alert for a while. Shotgun with Beanbags and rock salt ready. or if no shotty, its baseball bat, duct tape and smelly fart in a can.

No go on the duct tape. If you restrain someone against their will even if it is in self defense and for only a few secs it can be bad for you. Ask me how I know  [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang]

Messing w/ somebody's vehicle is just shitty, sorry to hear about it.

Also, my 1999 Dakota had no locking gas cap/door, same with my '04 Neon, no lock

Now that i think of it there isn't a lock on my sisters Grand Am, pops Blazer, or Moms Saturn, all cars are newer than 2002, wonder if the domestic auto makers are slow to catch on?

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

Sorry to hear about this, definantly someone that needs multiple punches to the bag

Locking gas caps are easily available from your local auto parts or other auto supply store and can cover this angle.  Obviously, it's taken some time to do.  Don't make it known to the dude you think it is, but make sure you keep an eye on his whereabouts.  A camera of some sort if possible is your best thing now.  I'm sure if you catch him doing something again your insurance company would LOVE to have a word with him regarding what they're spending on cleaning up your current mess.

Yeah, I'm looking into a wi-fi camera system. But that's only going to work if I get rock star parking near the apartment. We're keeping an eye out and so are our neighbors. The maintenance guys are on the lookout, too.

Unfortunately, the dealer doesn't make a locking gas cap for my truck. The boards I checked on aftermarket caps said they're hit or miss as far as being properly vented or getting error codes. Going to get one anyway and try it out.

Haven't even contacted the person we suspect. Give him enough rope and he'll hang himself.

Get a 5 or 6 gallon gas can, a bit used looking is best.  Mix copious quantities of sugar and gasoline in this can.  Leave openly in back of truck.

Guaranteed he will nab it.  He will subsequently be tied up fixing his shite and leave yours alone.

I did this once long long ago (mid 70's gas crisis!) and had the satisfaction of seeing the SOB's hood open shortly thereafter!

I know, I am a bad man......

but in a situation like this, the duct tape is just for fun. :D

Crazy ex tore up all my gear, assaulted me, pulled a knife on me, and then tried to kill herself. I tried to keep her from hurting herself and me. for a full 30 secs.
