How about a Sunday morning ride to ??  Maybe there's a decent place within a couple hours ride, just to grab a burger or BBQ?  Meet at 9:00, ride a couple of hours, eat something, ride a couple of hours, take a nap!  It's Sunday, taking a nap is good for you!  Weather looks like it's going to be good - no rain, not too hot.

What's your location & what area were you looking at riding?

Assuming you're thinking of leaving from the triangle, count me in.

This is going to be the first weekend in 3 months that I could even think about going for a ride. COUNT ME IN.

Hey, what do you know? The Bears have a bye week, so I could be down for a little Sunday ride.

Daaa Bears.

I'm most likely in.  Just got my valve service completed today.  waytogo  Had to replace all the openers, but the closers were perfecto.  Bike is running much better, much smoother now and is just begging to be ridden (the front wheel also begs to leave the pavement).

Sounds like we could get a good group up.  Weather might be a bit cool but looks like sunshine all day.

Now we need 2 things:  (Well 3 if you want to count a good presidential candidate!).
1.  Meeting up place
2.  Ride destination.

As much as I like to eat and have a food destination as a reason to go somewhere, there is one thing happening this weekend that I'll throw out as a possibility.  The East Coast Timing Association is having a meet Sunday in Maxton, NC.  Ya'll know about the Bonnieville Salt Flats right?  Well Maxton is the east coast equivalent.  Really!  Land speed record stuff right here in NC!  I've never been to one of these meets but it could be fun to watch.  More info: http://www.ecta-lsr.com/

Of course, a good BBQ joint could easily override a race event.  What'cha think?

WOW!!

I had no idea anything like that went on around here.

I, for one, would definitely be interested in checking that out.

I ran into a guy with a rat rod that was talking about running the Maxton Mile.  Sounded like lots of fun to me ~

I checked the Maxton web site and Sundays race times are 8:00 to 2:00.  Saturdays weather may change things for them somewhat since rain is predicted but I don't know if they'd extend Sunday hours or not.  Looks like about 90 miles right down 401 from the south side of Raleigh.  How's this sound:  Meet at Barnett's, leave at 9:00, get to Maxton in time for 3 hours of race watching, then go find someplace to eat!  Probably going to need cool weather riding gear, probably should take some provisions (bottled water?, don't know what there will be at the track), and be sure to start with a full tank (that's a reminder to myself!).

I've been reading about Maxton for a couple of years but just never had the time to get down there for a race.  This could be great fun to watch.  I hope to see some really cool cars and bikes show up.

I just got home, so I may be bailing depending on how hung over I am in the morning. If I'm not there by 9, don't wait.
