LOL.... if you don't measure what you are swapping out, you'll never know if it's lighter or not.
$250 for the batter. 7 lbs lighter, and better CCA than a stock replacement
No, it's not terribly cheap, but try and save 7 lbs somewhere else for 250$

true, but people spend $250 on a small bit of CF for their bike, and get no real gain out of it (other than looks). Start adding it up, and it WILL make a difference. I'll have this thing 370ish lbs before doing anything really crazy to it

I'll be stocking those actually
working a deal out with the mfg next week.
Thats the large batt too. Race bikes can use a much smaller, 8 ounce version. The changeover point on ducs from drain to charge is ~3700rpms, and I generally don't buzz around above that, hence why I'm going with the larger batt. For a 4 cylinder normal compression, the smaller one is fine. For anything high comp, you'll want the larger one.
chopping off the rear section of the steel frame, and fabbing an aluminum one is going to be a large chunk in and of itself. I'd estimate around 15lbs can be saved back there, perhaps more depending on what seat/tail section I go with.

I've been following your posts on the "Ti" bits, and now this! It would be a great thing to keep a spread sheet going on weight saved / cost to lose it. Let us know if you want a PM to get on a list of some sorts, unless you plan on being a vendor sponsor of sorts.
Did or are you posting the rear section process? Very interested in seeing how that works out for you!

Not even
Sold/parting out my 999 though, to get a dedicated track bike, and go have some fun this coming season. Looking for a TZ, RS250, or something similar. REALLY considering buying a WR450, and making it into one of those super singles (450moto.com)

PM or email me, I will be carrying them in my e-store soon
They are made to order, but are worth it. The small pack will run a race bike for 30-40 mins, charge in under 30 minutes, and last FOREVER.
It's a LI-IRON (not ION) battery. Has technology to stop discharge when it hits 2v's to prevent any memory in the battery. Lots of other features.
Not to mention the race pack only weighs 11ounces.
