I prefer bottles, I pour canned in a glass.  If I buy canned, it's usually the dark Irish stuff like Guiness ~

i buy bottles 9.5 times out of 10.

when i buy cans it's because bottles arent' allowed where i am going or because i have weight/size restrictions so i need to get as much beer in as possible. also, cans are easier to sneak in than bottles.  :)
Life, alas is very drear. Up with the glass and down with the beer!

I haven't bought a can of beer since I discovered the link between shotgunning beers and waking up next to nastiness...   :-*

Other than the shotgun function I see no reason to buy a can. with the exception of PBR the metal gives it all the flavor it has.
