ok, so she had another impromptu interview and killed it! Flying to Dallas still on Wed, but she feels like (knock on wood) its in the bag

so, im asking, are their emissions tests in CO? I have termis w/ db killers removed, and just removed the emissions canister, is this going to get me pulled over a lot in CO? MI cops don't care, and their isn't any emissions BS

The Springs and alot of places no longer have emissions tests in Colorado. I believe Denver may still have them, but being a transplant myself, Ive never had to test my vehicles.

Also most new cars are coming with Colorado emissions exempt stickers, so I assume some places still require them.

Yup, they got rid of the vehicle emission testing a couple of years ago, and even then bikes were not required to be tested.

They do have a noise ordinance that is supposedly pretty strict. Our cook at the Benihana type restaurant we go to rides a Gixxer and Harley. Last time we were there a few weeks ago, he told us he just got nailed on a noise violation on his Harley. First time I've ever heard of anyone actually pulled over for that. I have the Ducati Performance setup and I'm pretty sure I don't meet the requirements, but I have never been pulled over. I think most the LEO's have better things to do than randomly pull folks over for noise violations.

fingers crossed indeed.

Whats the job market like there? I hear the local economy isn't so great, is that true? I have a BS in industrial design, but CAD work or project management might also be good fits. I also have a background in furniture making. I'd hate to commute to Denver everyday, but sounds like that may be the place to look for work.

If she gets it, we are coming out for a long weekend in April to look for apartments. I've been reading some blogs and they say west and northwest sides of town are the places to be. North and northeast seem to be heavily suburbed...

Where about's in town will she be working (assuming she's got the job)?  That may help your decision of where to search for a place to live.  I live on the north east side and while it is a lot of suburbia, there are really only 3 main roads that run north/south in the city, and all are pretty quick to navigate to.  The west side of town are older homes and also some of the extremely priced homes.

If you're going to set up your base with riding in mind, Old Colorado City/Manitou Springs would be a place to look. It puts you right at the entrance to the mountains, and easy access to downtown.

As to job opportunities, there are 4 military bases around the city and tons of contractors. If you have had any experience with the military/contractors before, it shouldn't be too hard to find something.

DucatiTorrey

unfortunately no mil experience, finding work may be tough for me. We were looking at apartments and houses for rent on the west side and NW side. Old Colorado city is def an area of interest.

is the nightlife all downtown?

nightlife and colorado springs don't go hand in hand.  Its a pretty small and conservative town.

Old Colorado City is a neat place as well as Manitou Springs.

good luck!!

Well in that case...yep there are a few.  Phantom Canyon is a good brewery and restaurant downtown!!

There are several micro brews in town. Several near the downtown area. Bristol Brewery has large take home jugs!  [drink] [beer] DDGM is right though, its not a large 'clubbin' town like say San Antonio... Pubs and micro brews are more the theme.  Besides with all the military around, the clubs they do have are massively overloaded with testosterone and several fights tend to break out each weekend.
