O.K., so out of the blue today, my wife says she wants a WII game system. Says they have a yoga game, and it would help her get some exercise.
Well, I can understand the need for exercise, I just don't know whether this will end up as another coatrack, like the stationary bicycle, and the treadmill did.
Anyone here have any experience with the WII system (Besides funny Youtube videos, that is.)?

So is it just for the fitness that she wants it?  You can probably get 6 months (more?) of yoga classes and a a mat for the price of a wii.  Then at least she might go and do it.

My friends are definitely "serious gamers" and most of them have all three consoles.  The one we end up playing the most when there is a group is the WII.  I do not play many video games but I will play the WII anytime someone wants to.  There are lots of great multiplayer games that are fun and easy to learn so anyone can participate.

Also, I have 3 friends that use their WII mostly for the yoga/fitness games and they love it.  All 3 of them say they work out more than if they did not have the video game to make it more interesting.

Don't think you have to swing your arm to swing the tennis racket on the Wii. You can twitch your wrist and get the character
on the screen to swing. My biggest problem is that Wii does not have Gears of War 2.

Have a Wii (the i's aren't capitalized), have the Wii Fit. It's a fun system, and not really designed for "serious" gamers. The graphics are fun, plenty of games for it. We have Guitar Hero which is a blast and it has games that my almost 3 year old can play....

I just got a Wii for my birthday. My wife had the ulterior motive so i had to buy her a Wii Fit.  [roll]

I've used it once (the Wii Fit) told me I was overweight  >:( doesn't actually take into account my huge pecs and smokin guns.  ;D

My wife has been using the Wii Fit and I just can't stop laughing at her when she is using it. It's bloody hilarious!

I felt I got more of a workout playing baseball.  [thumbsup]

You will love the wii. You just have to be very precise with your game selection.
Some games take advantage of the wii's gameplay offerings, and some don't.
Mario Galaxy? Amazing.
Zelda, Twilight Princess? Best Zelda game i've ever played.
Mario Kart? Wicked good time. Especially with 3 friends.
Wii Sports becomes your staple party drinking game.
Resident Evil 4 and R.E. Umbrella Chronicles are effing RIDICULOUS. Best R.E. games i've plaid. So much fun when you get to aim with the controller.

And all of these games take advantage of the what the wii DOES offer in graphics. Yea it's not the best, but if you design your game to match the minimal graphic processing that the wii does, it looks fantastic. Low polygons, simple textures. The games are great fun, and you can't get bored.

Also check out the game called "De Blob"
It was designed by art students from the netherlands i think, it's retarded fun.

Go for the wii.
I have a 360 as well. Both are good.

Wii fit told me I was obese.....that thing has awesome perception!  [laugh]

mario kart? yes
mario galaxy? yes

if there is one great thing about it, it's the fact that its super social...the more, the merrier!

I think the graphics argument is kind of null and void on the wii. A: thats not really what it's for and B: it looks FINE. How realistic does it have to be? It's totally fun the way it is.

I almost want a Wii for one game. I'm a sucker for vintage Indy 500 stuff and this game looks promising.
