So, one night, whilst stumbling in a drunken stupor through a supermarket, my buddy and I came across something I recognized from childhood.

It was a block of pork fat.



Like bacon, but without the meat. I was overcome with the need to buy this item and fry it.

Preparations began:



Despite my high spirits, those more-sober-than-I were concerned



Take yer block o' pork:



Slice it one way:



Then the other:



Fry:



Until crispy, allow to drain:



Eat:



Eat?



Yes, eat:




Then....listen to your heart pound as your veins clog.

This food....is both disgusting and delicious in ways I cannot describe. We were loathe to try it, then unable to stop eating it.

I have heard of this block of lard bacon story before.

I had a bad experience.. tequila night at Univeristy at Leicester, 19 years old, had shitloads of this, jamon serrano and chorizo (rec'd package from the in laws) then went drinking after 4 pints of DogBolter from a Firkin Pub.
