I was in the process of relocating the ECU and VR anyway... and the recall came out.

I've had way too many heat related failures -and my warantee is turning into a pumkin in a month...
I've averaged three new ECU's a year!
-which is one thing under warranty, but unacceptable if I'm paying for them!!!

Only 5k miles. They said it could make it a bit longer, but went ahead and let them replace it.

Wow.  I get about 13,000 miles per chain on the 1098 (and that's with a 14t front sprocket).
I use the DID VM525 chain, Maxima chain wax, and clean chain & sprockets with PPG wax & grease remover.

Are you running 520 chain?  Lube? ...?  Huh?

I have been rather pathetic when it comes to chain care. I take full responsibility.

There is one on my kitchen table. Granted, I do not own it. I have read the back. Does that count?

I thought the 1098 had a 520 chain?

The 696 is on a test ride, and then it should be ready to go. I do not have the entire scoop yet, but relays were involved.

Good to know, I won't see what it takes to make mine fall off again.
