I love this thread...a copper trying to hop up his bike Police

So if you got lit up on the highway, Hugh, would you stop and ask for a professional courtesy, or drop the hammer? Evil

BTW - I tend to agree with the folks who say that more power is uneconomical. Put your money into suspension, and maybe a 14-tooth front sprocket. Oh, and a nice aftermarket clutch slave.

Hey Hugh I put a 14 tooth on the S4RT and love it.
~ City riding much more enjoyable..
~ A LOT punchier off the line..
~ Great in the twisties when you power out of a corner.. Fun even..
~ Don't know about km/hr off the top end as I haven't reached it yet.. So no loss there..
~ Cheapest mod around for the best value..

You forgot one:
~ Massive wheelies in first and second gears

You know i can't answer that Desmo  Wink

Well 20k service is coming up, so maybe a 14t is on the cards, as well as the fresh dyno tune....

yeah and some ST2 / DP / Vee two / whatever cams while you're there.

better still, wait till brad black opens his shop, take a week off, ride the bike down, let brad dial em in and REALLY enjoy the trip back!

... and since you're spending so much money ... some lighter wheels would, apparently, improve things a fair bit

yeah, and from a money point of view....the BST are probably your most effective bang per buck AND will depreciate less than anything else (they get sold VERY occasionally in the US pages / ebay and they get ridiculous money!

I'd look at suspension.
I was pleased with the difference between the standard and Ohlins rear suspension about 18 months ago and more recently quite amazed at the difference changing the spring to suiit my weight. Also swapping over the front springs from progressive to something more constant has had a majour impact. The bike now corners like it's on rails.  Smiley

Hey Lion

I just bought some BST Carbon Wheels and the weight saving is huge instant power to weight adjustment

eg:

OEM front for the Desmo is 9kg including roters

Front tire pirelli only 3.8kg
BST front Wheel with roters 2.1kg aprox

OEM rear wheel and tyre 14.8kg

Rear tire only 5.9kg
BST rear wheel with roters and sprocket 3.2 kg aprox

the gyro effects are reduced dramaticaly makes for good power to weight

estimated weight reduction to my desmo is 25kg from the stock 171kg with removal of the road gear .

Power to weight is the answer my friend not more power ,just look at my monster, nothing done to the engine just pipes ,ecu , open air box and weight reduction aprox 165kg with 136hp dose the job on the track against a 194 hp crapasaki neck and neck down the straight .cant imagin what it would go like with BST's .The Ducati OEM front wheel 11.8kg rear 10.6 kg
