I recently rode an S2R1K with HM racing cams on it for a couple of thousand miles (including the Dragon) and I can tell you it makes a night and day difference. My regular S2R1K felt like a pid afterwards. Butt dyno says a 10 hp gain. When I got back I asked the head mechanic at ducati Nola and he quoted me 700 bucks for labor including cutting the valve seats and doing the heads.

it sort of depends how much you want to spend trying to turn it into something it's not really.  cam kit is about $1100 locally from memory, then you need to tune it and i've been told that most of them end up with a midrange loss of some sort, which may be overcome with hi comps or a big bore kit and it just keeps going from there.

not trying to put you off, but you need to really decide what you want to do - ie, how much you want to spend.  and we can't put a s4rs motor into it easily.
