what has your dog eaten lately?

A few years ago a neighbor came by with a souvenir.  It was kind of brown and the size and shape of a bota bag. They'd noticed their dog was feeling poorly and took  him to the vet.  Turns out he'd gotten into some gorilla glue and it foamed up and hardened in his stomach, requiring emergency surgery.  That poor dog must've been in some pain but he survived OK.

Our dog, who I found abandoned in the desert, is really a great dog and only eats dog food, although she very meticulously pees on every piece of coyote and horse poop she comes across.

When our JRT was about 4 months old she liberated a bottle of dramamine from a counter, ate off teh childproof cap, and managed to eat about 6 pills before I caught her. Keep in mind one pill puts me (200 lbs) asleep and she was about 5 lbs then. I called the vet and told them what she ate. They said "Bring her in right now." I started to ask another question and the guy cut me off and said "Bring her in right now!".

OK.

15 minutes, $105, and a shot later, she threw it all up.

1/2 a 10 lb bag of charcoal, romex, misc. rags, and entire deer tail.  Those were the highlights of my labs eating career combined.

My JRT has a taste for live frogs/toads.  Crunches them and swallows them down like popcorn....its quite disgusting.  You can tell when he gets one because he foams at the mouth.

My beagles would eat catch and eat frogs the caught by the pond at my old house.  Then, they'd roll in the remaining slime and goop.

18 month old British Lab has gone through:
3 pairs of my ex-girlfriend's shoes (funny, she won't touch mine - she knows where discipline comes from  ;D)
corners of a couple of window sills
stuffing out of her bed and any stuffed animals she can get
various rubber toys and rope toys (always funny when we get the technicolor poo)
siding off my shed in the back yard
my good down comforter (4 times now, I keep suturing it back)
a pound of honey ham (took about 30 seconds)
loves all fruits - strawberries are her favorite, I give them as treats occasionally

Grover loves fruits too.  When we used to live in a house with fruit trees in the yard, he would jump up and pick apples, plums, etc. off of the branches.

When he could no longer reach any he would start crying :'( [laugh], I would have to pull down the higher branches so he could reach them.  He would prance around the yard chomping on the fruit, juice spurting out of his mouth, proud as can be.

Watson on the other hand, loves veggies.  Anytime I pull out the chopping board and knife, she's there underfoot, hoping that a stray piece will come flying her way.  Radishes are her very favorite. ???  She also is a big popcorn fan.

Owen, our St. Bernard mix, once got a cake on the counter and ate it out of the box without disturbing the box.  Even closed it when done!  He will not eat his dog food if we are not home.  We could leave our dinner on the coffee table and as long as we are in the house he will not touch it.  He has never eaten out of the cat box, but does like poo in compost.  Lama was his favorite.

He likes popcorn, avocado, and onion, but not banana.

Grover stole some bread out of Dave's tank bag last year...he was miffed at first cause his mom had baked the bread, but I pointed out that at least the tank bag was undamaged! [cheeky]
