what has your dog eaten lately?

With some dogs you can place food in their bowl and they'll pick at it throughout the day.  Then there are other dogs that when fed they devour their food and make an attempt at eating the bowl.  My dog doesn't pick at his food throughout the day.  In fact, he's the type that will eat anything and does.  He's a black lab.

The list of items he's eaten in the past 8 years range from disgusting to bizarre:
- any type of food, you name it, he'll eat it
- paper towels are a treat for him especially if the towels have been near food at anytime
- nut from a chainsaw
- licked motor oil off the garage floor
- the bag full of yucky turkey parts that comes inside the turkey.  the whole bag, he didn't even bother to rip it open
- my kids first ginger bread house (this one pissed me off. why?  my daughter's response; "that was my first gingerbread house and I didn't even get a chance to taste it." followed by a sad face.)
- let's not forget his poop
I can go on all day but you get the point.

Two nights ago I witnessed something I thought I'd never see in my life.  The dog went upstairs, quietly, and found himself a snack.  I knew something was amiss because everything was too quiet.  Go upstairs into our bedroom and there he is eating a bar of soap!  I'm talking Irish Spring.  The gnawing and the saliva from his mouth was causing the soap to foam up.  He ate almost half a bar of soap!

Yes that morning I found a sudsy pile of vomit in our hallway.  I knew he couldn't be feeling well so I took him for a walk and what do you know, a sudsy............never mind.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a dog that doesn't understand the difference between dog food and a pair of socks.

What has your dog eaten lately?

Big Troubled Bear

Well wadda you know, mine`s a golden lab and about the only it has not tried to eat is my son, but I bet he would give that a go as well :o

Doberman ate the side of my chair, clear down to the wood frame.

Did this all while in her cage, moved it next to the chair.

I have a beagle and a dobie. Beagle eats ANYTHING! The dobie is the most picky eater I have ever encountered.

mitt

Yellow lab.

When she was a puppy:
Siding off the house
Chair frames
A blue ink filled ball point pen then ran around the house dripping ink
About 2 pounds of deer poop in 1 sitting, then threw up all over the house afterwards

Recently:
About 1 pound of beach sand, again then threw up all over the house

Le Pirate

my springer has eaten:

the foam from the inside of my work boots (I didn't know until he pooped it out while i was walking....and then the poop expanded like compressed foam does  [laugh] )

christmas tree lights (he didn't like those coming back out on our walk either)

cow poop....probably his favorite

I actually have the opposite.  I have a wolf/germanshepard mix that has never chewed on anything or ate something she is not supposed to.  In fact I can put a whole plate of food at her level (coffe table) and leave the room and she won't touch it.  She gets human food but never begs or whines for it.  I doubt she eats her own poop too because she goes in a 6' by 6' area in one spot of the yard and will not go near there if we are playing.

Now outside animals are a different story.  She gets squirrels, mice, groundhogs, etc.  all the time and leaves them on the deck.

Let me take that back ONE time when she was a pup she got into some pizza mix and then her water.  When we got home it was crusted all over her face.

My brother has a Chinese Crested.

that damn dog eats EVERYTHING. his laptop charger, his cell phone cord, his old cell phone, his chicks cell phone charger, cat poop, its own poop.. pretty much anything it has access to is going to get nibbled on.

Its one of those little dogs that pee's on everyone. it'll jump on you lap to lick your face just to pee on your leg.. I hate that dog... >:(

Darmah ate a box of ear plugs

i had a mutt for a while, he would eat anything.
as a puppy he ate his way out of a plastic dog crate, then ate a cell phone (the old bag style)
then he ate the presents under the christmas tree.

that was on a friday. on saturday he ate his way into a large Tupperware bin full of dog food. got himself thown outside for the day, and ate his way through the wood fence and escaped.

unfortunately, he had his dog tags already, and someone returned him.

We no longer have a rug, couch (went through 3), cushions on chairs, half of a piano bench, and we are down one parrot (saddest day ever). Cat poop has to be the favorite though. It's like Almond Roca for dogs.
Is it June yet?
