deep tisue massage, or acupuncture.

or you can start using chemical rubs to tenderize it and then massage it.

if you have a doctor friend, he/she can inject a small amount of lidocaine IM 1% directly into the muscle.

muscle relaxers work wonders as well.. Flexeril is good as is Ativan (both prescription).  Both will make you loopy tho.

Best non-medicinal is to get deep tissue massage and heat.  Find a good massage therapist and get them to alternate.  Hot water bottle is best.  Start with the heat for 10 min, then massage for 10, then heat, etc..

But the flexeril + lido IM will knock it right out.

FYI, read the last few lines for details

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

lidocane is great for that. 1cc to the site is good enough usually. I rarely ever had to do it twice. I think thats the same stuff they use in your mouth too.

either way, i have a few bottles of it, not sure where and how much you could get it here though (they are all the old school communist glass bottles)

If its not responding to the heat and pressure, there's always the possibility that its a tear.

Longer than 12 hours? Go see a doctor.

Worst case, they give you one of the above-mentioned prescriptions and you sleep for a day. (Woohoo flexeril!) (Baclofen ain't too ban either.)

yes, its been longer than 12 hours but i dont think that its a tear, i had the same problem last year about this time and i went to the doc. he said that it was just a knot and he massaged it out

I'd go the deep tissue massage route. I get one every 1 to 2 wks because, with my job, I spend a lot of time hunched at a surgical microscope and always have knots in my left shoulder. If you do get the massage, I'd take 600 mg of ibuprofen or some Alleve right after, drink tons of water, and sit in a hot tub or a warm bath with Epsom salts for a while. You may need a couple of massage sessions, about a week apart.

I've found most pain is the result of not having enough Jack Daniels with your morning Cheerios.

Have you had your fifth today?
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

For knots, pressure works (like you're trying to stop bleeding). Get someone to really lean into it with a thumb or something. Or the corner of a wooden chair. You're not trying to massage the knot, but instead starve it of blood. Your brain will eventually signal the muscle to relax so blood can flow into it once more.

Deep tissue is the way to go because it causes your GTO tendons to relax.  Use a foam roll if you dont have anyone to put pressure on your shoulder.

The size of God?  Good luck with that.  I've been trying to get rid of him for years.

thanks for all the input from everyone, the evil knot finally went away, several really hot showers with the massage showerhead seemed to do the trick [beer]
