With the recent announcements of DIMBY AND WCDIMBY, please note that Ducatis in The Rockies (DiTR) will take place once again in Ouray, CO this year.

Details are far from final, but plan on a trip to "Switzerland of the Americas" sometime in August.

Just saw "the official DITR" thread, and also joined the facebook group....

Anyone intersted in sharing a hotel room?  Looks like 2 queen beds for around $130, so $65 each/night?

I'm not sure I'll have any more time left to take off work to get up there on a Friday, but will leave after work if necessary....have been wanting to check this out.  The roads in Colorado were outstanding when Pennyrobber and I went through this area last Sept.   Who's in?

Deet, I left the first year at noon on Fri, spent a night in Kayenta, and made Ouray the next afternoon.  (sunrise thru Mon Valley is very cool!)  The Hot Springs Hotel where everyone stayed lost my rez and I found a 1890;s kinda room above a bar. Good rate, some bennies on b-fast and drinks too. I stayed there again last DitR and may stay there again...don't know yet. Anyway, if I still have a job over the summer I will be making the trip. I think you should take at least a half day off on Fri!  DG

HAHAHA...I can't believe you remember that! Yep, that's the place! One napkin receipt from under a beer for 2 nights lodging, 2 breakfast specials, and about a dozen drinks. The 1st year I didn't get a receipt at all as I was the 1st guest. They turned on the vacancy sign as I rolled into town from the Hot Springs. Real nice couple run the joint. I got stuck in a 22 mile rain storm coming back from Telluride and the owner and his wife took my leathers and boots, stuffed them with newspapers, and filled me up with Irish Whiskey! You know...to take the chill outa me. Next morning all my gear was dry and I wasn't. That was when Shawn & I did the nonstop all the way home. Just over 12 hours at an average of 74mph....according to his Garmin...somewhere along the way we set a 134mph top speed. My Monster can't go that fast but Shawn said he was following me! All downhill past Shit-rock no doubt!

I would love to make it up there, but if I do it will be a lst minute spontaneous decision, leaving after work on Friday or early Sat and maybe just staying one night.  We'll see.

Dietrich: Same here! I want to go but "new job-time off" could be an obstacle. I have a feeling that IF I can go it will be a departure from home on Fri about noonish, a night on "the rez" and Ouray early Sat. I bet I could still get a place to stay if I called the saloon...chances are another room could be available too. (i got pull) If it looks like it could be done...5 days warning...let me know.

As of today I still have one half of a room left. I have a room in the Best Western with one bed open if you're still coming. If the bed is taken someone I'm sure can take some floor space!  Grin

Update:

7 rooms are still available at the discounted rate that Bick was able to negotiate.  They will be released in the morning.

We will have private access to the Tiki bar from 4-6pm on Friday for a reception at the Best Western.

We will also be having a BBQ at the Best Western on Saturday evening for about $15-20 per person.

If you have not made note in the General Monster Forum Thread about your attendance, please do so here:::> http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=19515.0

See you guys in a little under two weeks.
