Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section, if it is, please point me in the right direction.
I just purchased a Termi Full system with the air filter and the new ECU unit.
Question is, can i install this myself or does it need to be mapped or somehting after it's installed?
Dealer says "co2" levels need to be balanced? IS that for real or a scam to take my money?
I feel comfortable installing it if it is a plug and play system, but if it requires programming or setting up, im not prepared for anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I asked exactly this question a while back. My bike is an '06 S2R1000, but maybe the answer I got would be applicable to you too.

The bottom line is that it will run just by plunking the ECU on, but to make it run properly you will need to do a throttle position sensor (TPS) reset. That is almost a trivial thing to do from a mechanical point of view, but needs software and a special cable to talk to the new ECU. I think almost any dealer (ducati or not) could probably do that for you, or you can buy a setup from a company called TechnoResearch for abot $250 that will do the job in your garage. Setting up the CO2 would be nice, but I've been told it would probably be close enough to get by "out of the box", and in any case only affects the engine an near idle speeds.

Hope this helps. Remember, I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just passing on advice I got earlier when I asked the same question.

Thanks for the reply.....
My bad, it's an '07 Monster S4RS......
Also, can i do a dry clutch pressure plate swap myself or is it easy to mess up?

I thought i found a "How to" for that somewhere on here but i have not been able to locate it again, anyone know where that is?

Thanks!

grandpa nate

The pressure plate swap is easy as all hell.  Basic tools is all.

Thanks Grandpa,

I figured tool wise it was simple, i just thought that maybe i could not have it lined up right or somehting that could cause damage. The dealer tries to scare me into letitng them do everyhting so they can rip me off. I always worked on my own Jap bikes but im new to the Duc game and don't knwo much about them yet. Ok, i will do it myself then rather than the dealer.....

BTW, i love your quote, never heard that before but it's hilarious!

pressure plate is quick n' easy.  just make sure to remember to put the plate one such that the "index" mark (usually a triangle or something...my DP plate has a small "dimple" mark by one of the holes) is on the "slotted" post on the clutch hub.  i can post up some pics later if need be.

As has been said, it's a pretty simple job.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

I have the complete system installed on my S2RK too and the idle timing has never been consistent since. I was told that a Power Commander will solve the problem (or not really a problem) but I left it as it is. Do you guys suggest perhaps a TPS will help resolve the matter????

TPS = throttle position sensor.  I'd hope you don't need a new one.  The idle setting might be a bit off due to the system - a shop could make that adjustment.  I had some work done to my 900 the let if flow better and the idle got too low as a result. I had a shop adjust the idle - a similar result could occur when you add a more free flowing exhaust

The answers are:  Yes, you can do the pressure plate yourself as mentioned in the other posts.  It's an easy job.  And yes/no.  You can plug in the ECU with the Termi system and the bike will run, so yes it's plug and play in that regard.  No, it will not be correct so you'll have to take it to the dealer to have it setup perfectly.  On the bright side, it's not hard, not time consuming, and not an expensive procedure so the dealer shouldn't charge an arm and/or a leg to do it.  As also mentioned above, if you invest in some tools and software you can do it yourself.  Trouble there is, those tools and software cost more than the dealership will charge you for them to do it.  But it's a nice investment if you figure on doing it again for yourself or other Duc riders you might know.
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!
