we don't let Laura work alone on a bike:
Frickin' snow!

but she's getting smart.  Can't pick up the bike, but can put rocks under the handlebars to raise the thing:

thankfully, hubby works within 5 minutes of home, and he came home to pick the bike back up.
Laura wasn't on the bike when it fell over!!

Frickin' snow!

here's a pic of her 'ugly side'.

#4
damage was some spilt gas and a bent brake lever.

Time for new mods!!!

I tried picking her up, ALL different ways (even the backwards, lift with your legs).  No go.

I'm not short, and fairly strong, but physics is not on my side.

Frickin' snow!

Speeddog

That looks pretty gravelly there, that doesn't help at all.

Don't feel bad, I dropped my Gran Canyon in a sandwash, couldn't pick it up.  [bang]
Luckily my riding buddy was there to help.
It *was* his fault though, he was leading and I wouldn't have gone in there by myself.  [laugh]

Just ask that guy in the pic to carry the bike over to some pavement.  ;D

One plus to working on gravel is there probably would have been more damage if it was dropped on concrete.  :-\

swampduc

Glad you're fine. Picking up a bike on gravel ain't easy, I've failed at it once or twice.

Someday try ice.

Why was I riding on ice?

Because I am an idiot.
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

Glad it got back upright...  I remember picking up my Suzuki GS1150 in the yard after being catapulted into the neighbors yard by said GS1150.  It was a task and there were some muscles that were sore that I never knew existed after that.

KnightofNi

just get winnie to build you a tripod with a winch that you can put over the bike if you drop it.

or you could get some stands for it. (trust me, they help)

also, i have been in spots where i couldn't get the xr up without help or i dropped it on the other side because i tried to do it too fast on a hill.
