I hope it's not Franks turn with the feeling...
I'm not a fan of the PVC...
Why not?

You have a can of HTFU?
I do. It's actual a 55 gallon drum left over from when they built my house. They accidentally left it in the basement. It does have a warning label on it: may cause contractor to frame a deck with finish nails and use 20d nails to secure deck boards. May also cause contractor to secure deck framing to concrete foundation with only 3 nails. Etc.....
Are you sure you want it?

You should see how we attached the deck to the foundation through the foam...
Pretty resourceful if I must say.
I don't need 55 gal.
Can you pour me off a qt?

Mostly the cost, I just don't see how it's worth it.

You have to look past the initial cost and to the cost of maintaining/replacing wood.
I'll never touch this stuff again once it's up and finished.

They took it away from me last week. They said I over used it. I only had it for two weeks. Unfortunately a lot can bappen in two weeks. I tried to explain that it wasn't my fault, outside force. They didn't care.

He's right. And it's beautiful stuff. But if you think pvc is expensive and difficult to work with, ipe or otherwise know as ironwood is not for you.

It was supposed to be a simple fix, $4k later and endless hours of frame repair and I'll have a deck again.

Properly installed pine will last a long time with fairly minimal maintenance. It wouldn't need any more care than your siding.

but it supposedly has the same fire rating as concrete
wonder how much it would cost to build a whole house of it

Finding pine that's high enough quality to look good isn't easy anymore. If you do find it it isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination, and still requires more maintenance than pvc or composite siding.
...and besides...it's already painted.
