It was a try-out match.... they're playing for a place in the team.   So no result doesnt really matter.   But if it were a real match which ended due to rain.... it would be deemed a draw.

Sticky wicket?  Not really a current cricketing term..... used to mean a difficult pitch to bat on.... uneven bounce. Modern pitches are usually quickly covered when the rain comes, so the surface is better preserved.

These days if anybody says it at all.... it just means "tough situation".
