My 1969 DT 125 didnt even have any power. The 1979 DT 100 was twice the bike that the 125 was.

Did you ever decarbon the baffle on the 125?

No. It was the first bike i owned. I didnt know nothin from nothin then. But yea it was probably all clogged up.

I learned a lot of things with the 100 though.

It was a real common problem on all the Yammi's.

The oil pump worked too good, and most riders never wound them up tight enough to clean things out.

It was an old bike then (1982) so I can only imagine how much crud was in there. It was also too big for me. The 100 was more the right size for me at 13. I rode that for a year or two before i stepped back up to a  brand new CR 125R (1984)

The CR that year was a little soft on power but it had good handling, brakes, and suspension.
I put a pipe on it and made it hard to ride.  ;D

That bike and the CR 250 both required and endless supply of tires, chains, sprockets, plugs, rings, levers, and pistons. And the occasional set of new handlebars.

The only 2-stroke I've been on is the TS185 that Dad bought back in '78.  It wasn't peaky though, had nice midrange, but it's pipe is a vastly different shape than you find on trail and motorcross 2-strokes.

You can pipe a 2 stroke for just about any type of power. The 125 i had was all top end after the Pro Circuit pipe, stock it had less power but over a much broader range.

The 250 made power right off the bottom, and had a strong midrange with a little bit of rev on top.

On another note, we just got back from Fred Meyer. They were having 40-60 % off in clothing with an additional 25% off on top of that. We came back with some nice duds less $120...
