Actually the next deal is to paint some stuff.

I can't paint at night.

The bugs are attracted to the shop lights...

they end up in the booth...

and the wet clear.

I've seen one in cheap metallic top coat and it really really sucks when you're top-coating a crimson metallic...  Granted this was $10 auto parts rattle cans, but I for sure see your issue.  A bug in white pearl would be beyond noticeable ~
