The stars aren't out quite yet, but the trees are moving in the breeze. Very nice.

I saw that star article Dave but have not read it yet.

I got home from work early, walked the Lucy dog, and then took a short nap. It was 85 our and almost that inside yet I woke cold and chilled. I felt a little under the weather earlier in the day. I just took my temp and it is 99.0! I run low, so this is 100 for me. I hope it is a hot flash and nothing more.

I do not have time to get sick

I went through gold hill about a week ago. Saw some folks there that you probably know.

Not unique to Australia but the most iconic constellation we have

...and once you can see the Southern Cross, you can always know exactly where due south is...

...the point where those two lines intersect is the south celestial pole, drop a vertical line down from that point to the horizon and there's South.

Or.... take the distance between the stars on the longest  part of the cross, measure another 3 times from the "bottom"  star along a  line through those 2 stars and then draw a line down to the horizon....if it's cloudy, just use your GPS

It was good.

I was under dressed. It was about 55F and the wind was blowing about 25 mph in the morning.

It was chilly.

Warmed up nicely in the afternoon.

They're always, always blown away by the gazzilions of stars there are twinkling back down at 'em.

I never fail to enjoy that little stunt.

I got to enjoy that view every night along with seeing the Southern Cross when I was in the Outback (not a Subaru) for three weeks.

Morning.  Was planning to ride, but got up to rain.  I guess we're in the 20% that are getting rain today.

JM, even the Melbourne city folk are amazed at all the stars up there... which they just dont see in the night skies of the Big Smoke coz there's always too much ambient light.  I like our night sky.

We don't have too much light pollution around here either.

The night sky can be impressive.
