Snow day at work today.   

Delayed opening tomorrow.

For the most part the snow is miles south of us.  We still have the wind.

At flood warning was issued for our area this morning because an ice jam is forming in the Niagara River our side of the Falls.

We are less than a mile from the river so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Ill go with the bear Vs the crackhead. In other sightings, it was the whales this morning, spouting and showing their backs. There were also two groups of seals floating out there. Some of them were jumping, others were riding the waves up and down. Then I saw the Rabbit get away. The dogs didnt get a very good fix on the Rabbit though.

I might have to go fishing ie: Diving today. Ocean is looking pretty smooth, no idea about visibility though.

The ACHn number is .05

The ACH-50 is .84...which misses Passive House standards by .24. The plumbing vent, the boiler vent, and the dryer vent were not blocked to achieve those numbers. I think if we had the house tested before all those penetrations it would have been much much lower.

The HERS rating is 49 which means the house should be 30-100% more efficient than the 'target' house. I forget what the details of that are.

The number I'll like best will be on the rebate check from the utility.

Testing the house before all the penetrations were sealed isn't fair.  That's like having a window open.  I know your house should have gotten a better number. 

The HERS rating is an efficiency measurement compared to a standard new house.  Your house is 51% more efficient than a typical house.  Typical new house = 100.

ACH is above my level of patience pay grade.  ACH is the air change per hour in a structure.  Buildings leak.  ACH is how much they leak.  That ACH number is the number of air changes at a certain pressure.  I think it's 50 pascal, (ACH 50) refer to my pay grade comment.  Your house has .84 air changes per hour with three gaping holes.  That's not bad.  A typical house is closer to 2.

It's just a number. The only reason I had the test done was to see if I really missed something big. If I wanted bragging rights I would have had the test done as soon as the windows and doors went in and before all those holes got drilled.

We forgot about the dryer vent.

It was brutally cold and there was ice all over the ladder. It wasn't much fun going up to block off the HRV ducting.

According to Kevin they don't seal the plumbing vent or the boiler vent for the E-Star rating. Just have the traps wet. I don't know how you'd get up on a snow covered metal roof to plug a 3" stink pipe anyway. It is pascals. The ACHn is a calculation of how many air changes with out a 7000 cfm fan trying to suck the life out of the house. That was .05. I'm calling it a success.

Dude. Thats no good at all..i wonder if it was those crackheads that don't frequent my neighborhood as much anymore.

Did they take that engine analyzer with all the cables and stuff too?
