Too much TV...

We call 'em pancakes in the Mountains.  We also make 'Tater cakes from left over mashed potatoes too.

As far as TV - we got three channels until I was 7.  Still, we only had one TV.  So, it was the news, World News Tonight, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.  Then time to get ready for bed.  I only watched a few cartoons on TBS in the early afternoon.  I was usually doing something outside though, since we had no money but lots of acreage, I played in the woods.

We use butter and syrup on ours!  A lot of people put jelly on French toast though!

Butter and syrup is nice.
Jam on French toast, never tried that.

Here, Jam is a frozen (must be kept cold, it melts) fruit spread that doesn't have any binder like Pectin while Jelly is a room temp spread that won't melt because it has the binder.  Jelly is also smoother as it's made from only the juice and jams are made from the pulverized fruit.  Is it the same over there?

Down here, jelly is jello. First time I heard of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was on the Brady Bunch. :D
Jam here is fruit spread, usually on toast and usually refrigerated. There are two types, real old style jam similar to what Grandma made (pulverized fruit) and cheap fake stuff that's highly processed and more jello like. So similar yeah.

I see.  So, what is the name for the different types of fruit spreads then, or are they they same?  Some here call orange jam Marmalade if that helps.  Just curious, I love to travel and learn about different places & such.
