If you love your bike, set it free.
If it comes back to you, you've
probably high-sided.

Msinc.  the bike fitting went well.  Took all their measurements and such.  Rode both 54 and 52cm Trek 2.1.  Really nice bike.  The 54 was better.  May need to go with a cm shorter stem.  Stock was a 17.  They didn't have the 1.2 Trek in stock.  Ordering it and should be in next week.  the 1.2 is more B's price range, but I can make up the difference for the 2.1 with $$$ my parents gave me for graduation.  That leaves no $$ for gear, though.  It was my first time on a realvroad bike.  I have always ridden a mtn bike even when I commuted 10 miles to work a few summers ago.  You'll see what I end up with on the bike thread you started.

Glad to hear the fitting went well.  I bet it feel really different compared to your MTB.  BTW I did my Ireland bike tour on a mountain bike, they can certainly do long distances, you just won't be winning any races.

Was it comfortable?  Are you going with clipless pedals?

Hey, same size as me.  :D
Nice work getting fitted. I used to have a 52cm Trek 2100, which was a little small for me, and eventually ended up with a 54cm Lemond Zurich which fit me much better. Long distances are more comfortable, and I'm less cramped up. My fixed gear is a 52 and has a correspondingly short top tube, but it's nice to have a smaller bike for riding in traffic.

Yeah, it was comfy.  The seat sucked.  Put pressure on tender bits.  The 52 felt really short and cramped.

I have clipless SPD pedal/shoes for my mtn bike.  All depends on the model I get, how much $$ I have to buy goodies with.

I never bothered to get road shoes. I just used mtn/SPD pedals and the same shoes. Of course, I don't shave my legs either, and my helmet has a visor. (all mtn bike carryovers)

I now go with SPD's for both of my bikes, it's easier that way.  In fact I need to find a home for my road shoes, no need for those anymore.

Sorry to hear about the saddle, but that's not uncommon.  I need to get a new one for my folding bike.

You must be quite a bit taller than me, my Orbea is 48 cm.

It's nice to have recessed cleats too.  And I wear mountain bike shorts instead of lycra shorts (although the guys I ride with sometimes give me a hard time about it, I know the real reason why [roll]).

I have a size 54 RS Taichi leather suit.

Does that count?
