I'm knackered mate.

Another big week.... the local quarry, the gold mine and the wild north west. 

Long days.... hours of driving.

Beats having no way to pay the bills by a long ways though.

For the old house.

I've pretty much decided that it really isn't worth dismantling it myself (time/reward).

There are things that need to be disposed of regardless and they need to be tested for asbestos.

I called one company and they want 3/4 as much to test as the best price I've gotten for labor to stuff it into dumpsters. I think there's a conspiracy going on. 'They' want it to cost 10K just to make it gone regardless how you do it.

I bet I can fly you here and back cheaper than the price I got. I'm going to call the state DES and find out if I can collect samples and have a lab, http://www.asbestostestinglab.com/ ,test them. In NH they still let homeowners do many things you need to be licensed for in many states. If there is asbestos, and from my research the stuff is in most everything in small amounts, it would then be a question of whether they let me do the abatement, or whether I have to hire someone.

The main candidates here are some ceiling tiles, some wall tiles in the laundry, and some vermiculite insulation in one wall. There is some drywall that should be tested, the plaster, as well as the old window glazing putty.

Most of the stuff is so old that I doubt there is much here. The place never really was renovated.

I got a price from one company of $1500 to test. The basic charge was $800 plus samples. I bet I can fly Mary back and forth for less than $800.
