My dad passed away in December of 2017. Yesterday I got mail from his government life insurance. Any of his children that were living at the time of his death are eligible for a portion.  There were 8 kids in total. I am not sure if Karen, the oldest, and his step daughter, was ever adopted by him. It would make me really happy if the money only went to his son and the adopted kids. Step-children do not get anything according to the paperwork. Total alive at his death was 6, Now it is 4. To my knowledge, my brother Roger did not have kids. My sister Dottie died in 2019 and has two living kids. They could really use some mail box money.

The paperwork requires a fair amount of information. I'm a little bit in shock. I'v had 3 parents die and never received anything except my mothers social security death benefits that I never knew about and never saw till I left home at 17.

I'm going to get all the required information, fill out the paperwork, mail it in, and wait. No idea how much it would be.
