It has been quite nice with very few meetings on the work calendar today.

Need to pick up a few provisions for T-Day.  Heading to the ranch owned by my buddy's brother, which just west of BFE. 

And I took Monday off for good measure.

Salmon sounds so good (as does pheasant).


My sister told me about a local backyard BBQ'er guy that she has ordered from before who sent an email taking orders for cooked (rotisserie?) turkeys.  So my dad and I thought that would be a good plan.   They're only 4-1/2 lbs I was told.   

huh?   I questioned her and asked if they were babies or if he was passing off chickens for turkeys ("churkeys").....?  Turns out they're just turkey breasts.  Too late to cancel the order.  My original plan was to roast a chicken.

Oh well.  It'll all be good.  Making apple crisp and roast squash and something green.



In other news:  I wish my mother was as easy to deal with as my dad.   [bang]

Picked up my 15.5 pound turkey today! I made a coffee brine for it. I also cut up a loaf of good bread and dried it out in the oven. Making 2 different dressings. Going to make a butternut squash soup to start my meal with, then turkey, masked veg (potato, parsnip, and cauliflower), roasted sweet potato with maple glaze, Brussel sprouts with toasted pine nuts, bacon crumbles, and a splash of lemon. Home made gravy too!

My boss gave me six beers from Russian River Brewing Company - limited release and pub only beers!

I only have to work half the day tomorrow!   [beer]
