....and precisely because you're now the proud owner of a perfect back-up phone.... you'll never misplace nor damage your number 1 phone ever again  :D

Morning Ducatters.
Somehow, either T or I will need a phone. It's inevitable. ;D

To the sailors in the group:  thoughts on the Bayesian catastrophe's sinking by water spout?

As in, how did it happen or how do I feel about our new annual sacrifice a billionaire to the oceans tradition?

It was at like 5 am and probably one crew member was awake as anchor watch. The Med can be very volatile and it sounds like a waterspout took her down. Radar will pick such things up...but only after development. She got blown over on her beam ends-that implies a very sudden change in wind direction. With the hatches open, water just starts pouring in at eight lbs/gallon and you sink.

She probably went down within minutes-you'd have time to maybe wake up and say "it's windy" then she tilts, you fall out of bed, and water comes pouring in at a high rate and pressure and you have no hope of getting out.

They'll blame the Captain.

The ocean is a terrifying place.

Tragic event for all involved.  Deeply sad (no pun intended) for the remaining family members and close friends.  But a catastrophe it is not.  40,000 dead people would qualify as a catastrophe but we can't get into that here.

I have no opinion.

People I know that sail say the captain make the beast with two backsed up. The buck stops at the top.

There simply aren't that many positions with that level of authority, so the responsibility remains incredibly high. If the Captain had said "we're dropping the keel, battening the hatches, and keeping a shift awake overnight while in port" there ain't a soul that could say "no."

I find it somewhat stressful when I have the kids with me on the ocean. I take it very seriously.

Morning.

I've been applying for jobs and have an interview with a headhunter on Weds.
