Morning all.   [coffee] is ready, anyone need a refill?

Please!  Didn't get much sleep at all last night.  Got the dog back from the vet, she went in to get fixed, yesterday and spent all day hanging around with her.  She used to sleep on the bed with me, but it's a tall bed and I didn't want her jumping on and off so I put a couple of blankets on the floor and slept down there with her.  She seems to feel better.   [laugh]

'Ning all...

Good thoughts sent to Owen...

'Tini, just push the damn button already.

Ning to SwampDuc!  It's been raining so much here in SoCal, I'm beginning to remember the rains in MI!  :P

Good luck XJDAVE.

Good on ya for sleepin' w/the pup DRKWNG.

Me?  I'm coughing up particulate matter and groaning when I speak.  I caught something quick that has taken up residence in my throat.  Usually takes 2-3 days to run to the throat but this was maybe 24 hours.  So, I'm out of commission for today...

Plus side?  I bought a full-sized van yesterday!  W00t!  2003 Ford Econoline E250 w/the 5.4 V8, standard length, HD package, 77K miles, one-owner, with a couple cosmetic issues for $3300!!!  Anything else in that price range was twice to three times the mileage and a 1/2 ton with the 6 cylinder.  Had to put some tires on it last night so now I'm up to $3800 invested.  Still a good investment as this a van in this condition was about $2000 more than what I paid.  I may clean it and sell it off for a profit!

Down-side?  Dude smoked in the van...  YUK!  No cruise-control.  Manual windows and locks.

Desperately. Woke to about 6" of heavy, wet snow (how heavy? The chicken run has two chainlink fence panels mounted across the top so that raptors or other predators can't get in through the top, and the snow stuck so thick to it that there's 3-4" of solid snow accumulation ON TOP of the open chainlink. Never seen THAT before.  :o )

The college is closed, but went in to work anyway because Ann-Marie had to and it's a lot of fun to drive in the snow. Oh, and it's easier to check in on the DMF when I'm the only one in the office.

Nice score on the van, Stew!

Thanks Brad!   ;D

Was just lookin' on Ebay for 2003 Cargo vans and they're all at least $5000-$5500 and with more miles on them...  Maybe I will fix it and sell it off!!!

(Tried and True Ford guy here, but I like how the Chevy van rear doors open up further and it's a bit taller inside than the Ford is so easier to get a bike in and out...)

Last night, while rolling the emergency generator out, the cord pulled out of the plug. Me being an idiot, figed hey-at least two of these are marked, and the wires are so heavy and hard to bend they're probably still in the right order-we'll just put these ones here and fire her up and see what happens-after all-the generator and house have breakers, right?

I managed to fry the phone, microwave, wireless router, phone charger, xbox, three surge protectors, and the oven.

But I totally got it right the second time. How else am I s'posed to learn?  :P

Yay!!!  ;D

in my defense, I blame the whiskey, my dead friend, the boss who isn't my boss that I hate, and my doctor's appointment in an hour and a half.

but I totally planned on at least showing up this morning and leaving when I had to.

Well here's something new; I'm packing a "scram" bag this afternoon on the very remote chance that we're going to be told to evacuate tonight. Supposedly, the creeks here are forecast to crest around 1:00 a.m., and there's some chance that they could back up into our neighborhood -- we're about a block away from Miller Creek. And yes, I know we should have one packed already on general principle.

Before that, I'm gearing up right now to head out into the downpour to try to move some dirt & rock to displace the water that's pooling against the foundation in the back of the house. FrogToggs, do your job!

Good luck and stay dry. I talked to my mom in Tucson and they are getting hammered as well.

Just checked, and looks like the creek has inundated the houses at the bottom of our block,  along the creek. It's raging pretty good and has cut off two of the four exits from our neighborhood (the others are higher in elevation than we are, so we'd be long gone before those two are underwater). I still think we'll be fine, but it's more than a little unnerving.

We are planning for massive flooding here in King county from the Greer River.  I hope you are OK.
