It is unnerving.  I've lived through and seen many flash floods.  Been stuck out in the desert overnight a couple of times because the wash you crossed on a perfectly sunny day is now running bank to bank when you try to go home.

I watched a good buddy of mine on the local news a few years ago defy a road block to get through a flooded wash, only to be arrested on the other side.  It was the only way into his neighborhood.  He had a high clearance vehicle and knew what he was doing, but apparently the sheriff wasn't happy.  He had his kids in the car which got him into all sorts of hot water.

Ann-Marie's sister just texted her about a tornado in Ventura County.

More info; sounds like about an hour ago, and not a big danger:

"A waterspout came on shore as a weak tornado Thursday night and tore the roof off an empty air station hangar at the Naval Base Ventura County at Point Mugu, authorities said."

Yeah, I don't have any upcoming trips scheduled right now. [thumbsup]
