I hear you.  I don't do it but everyone seems to do it to me.

My latest is a customer that bought a $4k boring bar on test, it worked, then they didn't get the job and now they want me to eat it.

Which I'll have to :(

IDEA!

Put the bike in gear, stick a 2x4 through the rear tire so it jams against the swing arm and keeps the motor from turning over.

That would work wouldn't it?

Cost is 0$ and you can do it yourself.

If you dont have a 2x4, use a big stick, baseball bat, stack of golf clubs, or your neighbors mailbox post

Got the bike dropped off at DucSea.  Hope it sells quick.   [thumbsup]

Now I have to go get my gear.  Walking home in moto boots was no fun.

on test?
does that mean they bought it contingent on them getting the job?
is it somethign that is easily damaged or is a 1 time use item?


as for the locking up the rear wheel idea, i don't think that will work quite like you are imagining. however, for posterity sake and to prove you wrong i will attempt it. [thumbsup]

Well, if i can get the tool to do what i say it can do, they own it.  If I can't get it to work I'll take it back no questions asked.

In this case it was a 2" diameter damped boring bar going 12" deep on a huge casting with holes through it.

We got it working and got a great finish and were able to hold the .001" tolerance on the bore.

They just didn't get the job and they want to see about returning the bar.  I'll let them, but it will come with strings attached.

WHy wouldn't it work?  With the bike in gear (and teh chain connected to the rear wheel) if you can keep the wheel from turning, you can keep the engine from turning. . .

what is ML missing here?

you're missing the fact that it's me.

i'll proably break my swingarm and wheel.

not to mentionn there is a brake line that the board would be resting against.


i think i'll go for the HF impact gun and hope for the best.

I forgot about the brake line.  I'd pull the caliper and leave it hang off to the side to get the line out of the way.

Don't puss out and go buy a tool when you can use brute force.

If you manage to break your wheel and swingarm I will publically proclaim you a god, and I will build a shrine to you in my home that I will worship at on a regular basis.
