well...I guess we all have our "Fear and Loathing" moments...something impromptu and ragtag that lead to something indescribable and yet incredibly visceral and visual at the same time...even it is was for a brief moment or few.....or longer and more repetative in some cases...
I guess. Grin

it is funny when I think of stuff like that and sometimes my brain goes back to Robin Williams " A Night at the Met" from like 1984...

<::hippy voice::> alchohol's a crutch man...
<::wired voice::> gee captian herbalife...you just macrame'd your ass into the sofa and you're telling me that!

sorry....was running through my head...I think I am going to have to find that on DVD at some point...

channeling Robin Williams might not be great for your mental health...or personal hygiene

How is the roof supported? Is this a gable end or a load wall?

it's supported on all 4 sides.
This is an addition onto the original garage. The original section is 20x40 and there was a 10x40 section added next to it and a 30x30 in front.
I knocked down and rebuilt the front 30x30 a few years back so this is the 10x40 alley if you will within the garage.
It is connected to the roof of the original section on one side, that side has a full cement wall in good condition. On one end it attaches to the front newer section, I put in a support yesterday and will be detaching that side today. On the other side is an outside wall that can remain as is for the moment. And then the probelm area is the the 10x40 block wall that is caving in.

Wish I had a sketch.  Tongue

As long as it isn't an exterior load bearing wall you should be fine.

That my friend is in fact a load bearing wall. It supports the outside of the shallow pitched shed roof.

It will need support sufficient to bear the roof's weight until you can replace it.

You can build a temp wall out of 2x4 for the job.

hence why I'm taking apart said roof as it is fairly rotted and will be replaced with a roof that joins the other further up in it's slope. Flat roof = yucky.
Even in the rain I was able to take apart a good amount of it. In fact right were that arrow points I was standing and pulling stuff up.  Evil

Are you replacing the entire wall or just a section?

That's a big job for one guy in one week. Shocked

whole thing
I'll just be doing it as block to five feet and pressure treated lumber the rest of the way up.
It's not critical to get done this week but I want to have the at least the new blockwork started, I don't have a whole lot of time before a good hard nighttime frost gets going.
