The strut towers are on good shape from visual inspection, no oil leaks etc.  This has all suddenly appeared since I was making a right turn one day and heard this nasty growl/groan from somewhere up front.  The steering wheel has been off-level or off-center since.  Like something moved in the steering somewhere.

Outside, very edge of the shoulder.  Passenger side is wearing normal on both shoulders.

Were are the ball joints on this thing?  Nothing in the front end moved when I was trying to find the culprit.

Tie rod JM...not the end...the rod itself. There's a ball and socket inside the rack.

Yes, if I were not already comfortable on the couch, I could go take pictures of the pizza slices in the fridge, along with pics of my round belly.

Merely the fact that I am too lazy to do such is an indication that my belly is full of something.

;D
...and that has what to do with the earth? :P

no need to have 'visual movement' ... take both wheels off ... take shock absorber and move it up/down ... see top shock mount ... look at the nuts holding it ... also check sway bar ... but, i need to know ... what year taurus we talking bout willis?

Outer and Inner rod parts are relatively new, replaced well after the 100K mile mark.  I replaced the inner tie rod ends at 175K.

Strut mounts look ok from bolts being where they're supposed to be.

The wear you  describe sounds like bad toe in (too much) or bad camber adjustment.

If you don't think it's the tie rod I'd look at ball joint or a strut issue
