Evening.  Talked to a local dealer Japanese bike dealer today.  I can't seem to sell my SS locally, so it may get traded (if I can get a decent trade value) toward a KLX250SF 'tard.

JM
Why did you decide to sell the SS anyway?

Because of the clutch?

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. good after noon and good before dark ....

jm, which model ss you have? Seen 3 SS750 on ebay all going for round $3000~$4000.00 ... one of them was a 'rebuilt from savage title' ...  If I had the $$ I would buy it ... I like that bike ... for me is a 2x1 bike ... take the fairings off and you've got a naked or half naked bike and put them on again and you have a serious Supersport bike to enjoy the twisties and still be civilized round town ...  ;D

I've hear the 750 was one of the worst head design ever ... and then now come to know that there are V and W heads ??? Where do I see that on my bike ... does it matter?

That doesn't apply to 750's or 620's...

just the old 900's

OK .. so me heads OK? Good? ...

Talking SS, between a 750/800/900/1000, which would be the 'best' for everyday and 'the ride' model? ... Have always thought of getting one as second bike ...

Because of the clutch?

I bought it to have something to ride while I did all of my work on Molly.  It's a great bike, but I don't get the same enjoyment out of it as I do the M750.  Now that Molly is very very close to finished (just the carbs & mirrors) the SS has been on Craigslist a couple times in the past couple months.

The clutch is a piece of cake to swap with the dry clutch, so if nobody buys it as is, and if the Japanese dealer won't give me a decent trade in (if they'll even accept an 11 year old Ducati since they're weird about taking anything aside from the current superbikes) I'll toss some new fricton plates in and keep her advertised.

DarkMonster - It's a 2000 Supersport 900.

It's hard to say, but the 900 is a very nice package overall, but the 1000 may have better suspension.  The SS can get 40mpg, even spending most of the tank flogging through the twisties.

Yes, it's EFI, but could do with a having a power commander or similar, it's got a lean spot right at 4K RPM.  It's usually only noticeable if you're trying to keep a steady throttle.  Just accelerating through the 4K area you don't normally notice it ~
