I'm fairly immune to toxins and germs by now. Heavy exposure to nasty stuff can be good sometimes.  [thumbsup]

I have lots more.

Those are just the ones I put up there.

I'd be curious to hear Mike's impressions.

he liked what he saw, and he's impressed with how fast it's coming together
and in regards to the images with snow, he said wow... not too good of a time to be building a house  [laugh]

Evenin' all.

Winter has returned, raining and just 13 miserable degrees.  The rain is good though, its canceling out my foolishness.

So how do you build bucks?

A 'buck' is a term used in concrete work to describe the frame around a penetration in the concrete.

Because I'm putting 4 1/2 inches of foam on the outside I need an extension for the windows and doors. We decided to call them bucks.

Look at the trapezoidal opening above the bay window....

I see, but I dont see  ???
Basically it's a 2x10, which actually measures 1 1/2 x 9 1/4, nailed to the opening. If you deduct 4 inches for the existing framing and sheathing you get 5 3/4, which allows for the 4 1/2 inches of foam and the furring which holds the foam in place and gets the siding nailed to it.

See? ;D

So your bucks are the edge framing that gets the apertures to span for the width of the still to be applied insulation foam.

I see  [thumbsup].

And here's me thinking the Hardiplank was going on next....  [bang] [laugh]

That would be nice...but there's still a ton of work before the siding goes on.

After the windows and doors we'll probably start on the o/hangs, then the foam on the roof, and metal roofing.

I still need to get in my shop. I don't want to miss the few deadlines I did set. [bang] [bang]
