evening
Thats cool  waytogo  Really.

Seems like the madness will pay off after all  Wink
I believe it will.

I realize the air handler is not functional yet, and that will bring some heat in as it exchanges air, but at least it will be tempered somewhat by the cool stale air being exhausted.

Just went up to check...68 degrees.

I'm out, be cool   Cool
I'll try.

Does the air handler (this is something you need coz of the building's "tight" construction, right?) need to function at the height of the heat?  Coz expelling cool air in  exchange for incoming hot doesnt seem like a happy swap  Undecided.

Edumacate me  Cool

Yes...houses need to breathe. I chose to control it rather than let it do it on its' own.

Only if the humidity from 'living' actuates it. Moisture is the downfall of tight houses. This unit is actually an HRV (heat recovery ventilator). It passes the incoming and exhaust air through a heat exchanger.

If it works the same in summer as in winter about 75% of the coolness will be reclaimed.

It can also be shut down on the hottest days and run more at night to remove any moisture build up.

It will be fine. Grin

aha... comprendo.

No reason to imagine it will be any less efficient in summer cooling the incoming than it will be in winter warming the incoming...

It is somewhat hypothetical... Wink

There will undoubtedly be some trial and error.

Time will tell.

It does seem that the insulation package is doing its' job. That is encouraging. Grin

The only warm place in this house in the winter is right next to the wood stove...

and it isn't hot.  Tongue

Was already 79 when I left the house at 6:00 and going to 100-102 today.  The ride home will be a bit warm but better then being in a cage :-)

Well, Me and the wife drove down to Houston with our dog. As you all probably know, Houston is Hot and Humid. The purpose of the trip is to babysit my sister in laws very old dog, and to take a vacation. We have some friends down here too.  Yesterday I went to Costco and bought another pair of shorts. When I live in the deep south years ago I had lots of pairs of shorts, but after years of living in coastal Northern California I have not so many pairs anymore.  The air conditioner at the house seems to work fine, and she has a nice pool in the backyard. The dog and I plan on spending a lot of time there.
