morn... what's going on today?  [coffee]
my wife's daughter and her incredibly stupid friend want to to an early Thanksgiving today for god knows what reason and we're headed there to suffer whatever disaster this turns out to be.
For example, my wife called last night to find out what time and found out the friend was just buying the food then. She asked, "I hope she's not getting a frozen turkey at this point". The intersting answer after her daughter sent a text. "Oh, she's not sure what she got"

yeah, looks like worst case scenario is gonna happen. landfall south of the city
That makes for the most amount of storm surge pushing in the harbor
Irene came within 8 inches of flooding the subway with a 4 foot storm surge. This one is predicted to be 6-11 foot.
Other interesting factoids. Typically hurricanes have pressures of 990 mb or less. The "Perfect Storm" had a pressure of 960. This one is about 950.
This is going to seriously cause problems.

I'll be fine from the storm (hopefully) I have enough gas to run my little generator long enough to power my sump pumps 40 hrs. If that's not enough, then there will be bigger problems than my basement.

Headed out in a second to observe the kitchen disaster.  [cheeky]

Turns out the turkey was frozen and they supposedly thawed it out overnight with hot water in the sink. I think I'll skip eating it. In fact eating my left over veal from dinner out last night right now so it'll be a pity that I'm not all that hungry.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Is there a bigger generator for the more important stuff, ie coffee maker?  Gas stove to cook bacon?

Wow! I slept in. First time in weeks. Woke up after 0700!

We need a storm watch thread.  [popcorn]

MendoDave

Mee too. I woke up just before 7. Usually it 5:30 or something like that.

I went over to the coast Friday and Saturday. Joy sold candy and I threw crab pots in the water and hauled up crabs. I had crab the night before last, a crab sandwich for lunch yesterday, and I'm going to get my coffee and have Crab for breakfast.

(note: not me but this sums up what I was doing)

jaxduc

you have crabs
I would get checked out if I were you.
