That's great!  [thumbsup]
I need it as funds have been swung towards disaster avoidance items right now. Figure if I'm ready for badness, it won't happen. Long Island's meltdown was a wakeup call for me to stop procrastinating.

It should work. I'm not sure if I would get an automatic switch or not. I figure I can probably go outside in my pajamas and get the thing started once or twice a year, but that's just me.

Nice...

fully auto.

I have to go out to the barn...

start the generator...

and manually transfer.

Yea life is rough.

When I lived in Cal I would fire up the portable generator and run extension cords to the fridge and whatever was absolutely necessary.
I had a way to run the well pump as well so that showers could be had.

It's not a big deal now.

The barn is quite a bit farther from the new house.

Power rarely goes out in good weather...although it does happen here occasionally.

Is it worthwhile trying to move it closer to the house?

ducpainter

I could do it that way, but it would involve a transfer switch.

The main panel I'm using has an accessory cover that locks out the generator circuit. You have to throw the main and then slide the lockout bar at the service which is located on the back of the barn. It also allows me to keep the generator inside without a doghouse or the like.

It's roughly $300 cheaper (plus the cost of housing the generator) to do it this way.

I'll suffer. :P

brb...time to lug wood.

I have seen a few here that have built a lil shelter for the generator...basically pour a lil slab with a horseshoe set in it and then chain it down and put a doghouse like structure over it with a little chimney and insulation attached to it for noise dampening...

The layout of the house would put that right in the front. :-\

The way I did it will work fine with what I have.

If I ever upgrade the generator I might go a different route.

Fun day with the doctor

affected area is straddling right where my throat and stomach meet

The procedure is a fairly commonplace one,,,, might even be a laparoscopic one

employed on people who drank far too hard and smoked far too much in life and ate too much spicy salty foods

looks like a possible dab of chemo and some radiation to beat and shrink the thing down

then a resection of my gizzard to the top of my stomach, take out the bad spot

considering the multitude and magnitude of truly horrific things they could have (and ought to have) found wrong with me

this one is an annoying cake walk....

my good attitude puzzles my wife

my brother understands it completely

my wife didn't know us during the dark days...she lacks "perspective"  ;)

This is an insult to the Pez community
