I'd have to wear two pairs of glasses to weed the stuff. [laugh]

I don't really want to be in the vinyl business.

I just want to be able to maintain control of the little details.

I own my own signshop, do full colour digital printing and vinyl cutting.

From my experience you need a 610 mm vinyl cutter, preferable a Roland, the cutting software that comes free with their cutter works with .eps files.
I use Corel X3 and Adobe Illustrator ( CS 3 Package ) and have no problems to cut any files.

Go to link to see, http://www.rolanddg.com/product/cutting/gx-24/gx-24.html
Went and found it.

That's a nice machine and is the one my buddy uses..I think.

It's a bit extravagant for cutting paint masks.

Are you familiar with the Roland Stika models?

Yes, just traded mine for a cold process laminator.

They are very dependable and for your purposes would be great, used to run mine from versaworks cutting program.

You can use any vector based software and just convert to .eps format for cutting.

Corel, Freehand or Illustrator works fine.

Avery and Oracle are both US manufacturers of vinyl and should have suppliers in your area.

For cutting masks I suggest you use the Avery Masking vinyl, we get 2 types, I suggest you use the blue coloured one (Easier to weed)

I normally buy per roll either 1220 mm or 610 mm wide, but sheets are also available here.

I've used masks made from Avery, Oracle, and  a company called Hexxis. The Hexxis product was light green and translucent. Made it very nice to put in place using registration marks...of a sort. ;)

The Avery product are called Sign Mask and are also translucent.

The one I use are called SignMask Light blue and you can pick up registration marks .

Hexxis has only been on our market for about 12 months and the only product I have used are the Digital vinyls.

The Avery product I just used is white opaque and a bit too aggressive for my taste. No way you can reposition without leaving the tiny bits behind.

My buddy is an airbrush guy and he applies without application tape...different application than what I do.

I may just go for the SV-15.

Thanks for your help.

Morning.  Thought I could work on waterproofing the deck today but my assistant just called in sick (for a 9 o'clock day) so I'm off to the office as soon as the babysitter arrives.
It's still buy a flounder a drink month
