Well...

The HERS rater continues to say the house is in the top 10 he's tested.

His doohickie thingie was only able to move 250 cfm of air. He hasn't done a volume calculation yet but he estimates the ACH 50 rating will come in at a 1.0. The ACH natural he estimates at a .1. The machine is capable of moving 6000 cfm. The old house would use all of it. :P

He explained that larger houses are much easier to get good numbers because the increased volume works in your favor.

I really should have had a blower door test done before all the HVAC penetrations were made, but I wasn't thinking about Energy Star rating when I built the thing.

The ventilation system passed with flying colors. I'll need to have it balanced once all the diffusers and grilles are in place.

I'll have his report in a few days.

He's done hundreds. [laugh]

We were hoping for a .6 ACH 50. :-\

Truth is, at these numbers the payback on investment disappears. I don't really know how I could have done anything any differently to make it better. I do think that if a test was done before the HVAC penetrations we would have achieved that .6.

In reality, it performs very well, and I'll get some money back from the utility for my efforts.

I rate myself slightly worse than that and yet I'm never in doubt  ;D

Main thing is that you'll put heat in the place and it will stay where its needed. 

I'd like to see an infrared picture of our house in winter  :-\

Woot! WE HAVE SNOW!

It till turn to rain in a bit, but I walked the dogs and it was snowing. Rocky wanted to eat the snow on the ground but could not due to his muzzle. Poor guy.

The city will shut down. If there are some good Metro bus slide wrecks I will post video!
