I like how Captains need to be a recognised leader, not simply a popular choice!

In that way, it's more than a popularity contest with an advertising campaign!

Having said that though, it really depends in what stock each school puts in the position.

A prefect is a senior leader, chosen because of ability, character and desire to serve the student body. Prefects are in High Schools not Primary (Elementary) and support the student body, staff and other student leaders.

Most often found in private schools.
