I disagree.  Have you driven one?  If you've been happy with the power output from your diesel Mondeo, you'll find a diesel Territory significantly more grunty.  None of the initial turbo lag.  I find the "handling" - if you can call it that - floppily ponderous, but I've never thought it lacks power.
I didnt know the petrol box was different from the diesel box.  It's a pretty low-tech old piece of run o' the mill equipment.  100,000kms on mine, no issues to date.  I much preferred the fancy-pants dual clutch gearbox of the Mondeo, but the Territory slushbox kinda suits the power delivery.

The ZF of the I6 isn't low tech, it's just not DSG.

Diesel box is similar but slightly different. Troll the Australian Ford Forums and you'll see the plethora of woes from the diesel box.

I have friends with each, but no I haven't actually driven the diesel, only I6.

Power to weight figures are low in the diesel, lower than my Mondeo.

As for the Kuga with 2.0 Ecoboost I drove today, that was excellent and a works better than the diesel Kuga I drove two days previous.

The newest diesel is supposed to be much better (10% more go) but it's 2.5k dearer than the Ecoboost.

Torque GK, torque.

I got nothing to sell, no investment to justify.  I just drive em.  Telling it like I find.

If you're thinking Territory.... I think you'd be mad to at least not drive the diesel first.

After the spritely handling of the Mondeo I hated the big floppy Territory at first.  But I've learned to like it.  Chalk and cheese though IMO.

True the new diesel has more torque than the EB.

I've got an op to drive my friend's Terry diesel next week, but I'm keen on the tech of the Kuga.

I'll have to score a drive of the new Diesel engine also.

Power to Weight
Terry Diesel
66.5 w/kg
Terry Petrol
97 w/kg

Kuga diesel
77.3 w/kg
Kuga EB
107.4 w/kg
