one or two quick questions . . .

I am remodeling my A/V room / office at home and want to make a wooden-metal rack for my stereo and I want to screw not nail and can't find the threaded inserts, so:

1. Is that the correct name?
2. Recommended size to use for 1" wood

I assume you're using metal uprights and wooden shelves? These should work.

I've put stuff together with that style, but it was always wood to wood.

I'd have to see a sketch to really understand what you're thinking, but I'd use the twist in inserts with a threaded fastener for the aluminum to wood connections. Since it's just bracing you don't need 1/4" hardware. 10/32 would be fine I think.

I just bought factory made wire shelving for our pantry. By the time I bought all the wood, hardware, and fasteners it was roughly the same price, and faster and easier.

Marine grade plywood, 1"thick

I'd ask the supplier about suitability in plywood. I think they're intended for solid softwood like pine.

I just saw soft wood. If they say plywood then go for it.

I still can't picture where you're using these.
